The American Board of Orthodontics is pleased to announce the re-certification of Dr. Joseph K. Vargo on March 1, 2010 as a Diplomate. Dr. Vargo maintains a private practice in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at 419 East 2nd Avenue, in the Historic Double Cola Building.
The American Board of Orthodontics is the only certifying organization for the specialty of orthodontics that is recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. The American Board of Orthodontics was established in 1929 and was the third certifying board in the health professions and the first in dentistry.
Board certification is an elective process. It is intended to provide assurance to the public that the orthodontic specialist has successfully completed an approved educational program and an evaluation process which includes an examination designed to assess the knowledge, skills and clinical expertise required to provide quality care. Completion of this process is an indication of orthodontist's commitment to high level of treatment excellence. Dr. Vargo is only 1 of 2 orthodontists certified between Cartersville and Dalton, GA. Dr. Vargo received his dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh, his orthodontic training from West Virginia University and Masters Degree in Craniofacial Biology. Dr. Vargo is a member of First Presbyterian Church, Georgia Association of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, ARC 2000(Advanced Restorative Club) in Rome. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Vargo thanks his incredible staff, patients and family for supporting him in this accomplishment: "I feel a strong responsibility to our town and my profession to have my skills challenged before a Board of my peers.
